Lesion of the Extensor Digitorum Longus

Quite uncommon source of lateral elbow pain.

Clinical Pattern
Symptoms and signs of a classical tennis elbow.
However, the accessory examination shows:

ˇ  resisted extension of the fingers is painful;

ˇ  the resisted extension with the fingers actively flexed  is painless.

Palpation  reveals  tenderness behind the  epicondyle.

ˇ  1. Extensor carpi radialis longus

ˇ  2. Olecranon

ˇ  3. Lateral Epicondyle

ˇ  4. Anconeus

ˇ  5. Extensor digitorum longus

ˇ  6. Extensor carpi radialis brevis

ˇ  7. Extensor carpi ulnaris

One or two infiltrations with  1 cc triamcinolone-acetonide 10mg/ml
