Traumatic Arthritis

History :

A traumatic arthritis at the elbow can be the result of

  • one trauma (either direct or indirect) to the elbow
  • overuse of an already arthrotic elbow.

  • The pain is constant but diffuse; there is stiffness and the patient has difficulty in moving the joint.

    Examination :
    There may be swelling.
    Clinical examination shows the capsular pattern.

    Warning signs emerging from history and clinical examination.
