Isolated lesions of the pronator teres muscle are rare. Pain on resisted pronation of the forearm usually indicates golfer's elbow. The fact that the pronator teres muscle partly originates from the tendinous complex at the medial epicondyle explains why resisted pronation may be positive.
Clinical Examination shows a normal
and painless passive movement of the elbow. Resisted pronation is
painful and strong. All other resisted tests are negative.
Some authors indicate that pain that is provoked by sustained resisted pronation of the forearm ( more than 30 seconds) is proof of a neurocompression of the median nerve.. - The Pronator Syndrome.
An isolated lesion at the level of the common tendinous complex at the medial epicondyle is treated in the same way as a golferselbow.
A lesion in the muscle belly, usually at its midpoint is treated with a few sessions of deep transverse friction : Technique
