capsular pattern (No hotspots activated !!! )

Definition:
is a proportional limitation of the three passive scapulohumeral movements. It consists of a certain degree of limitation of abduction, more limitation of external rotation and less limitation of internal rotation.

so: external rotation > abduction > internal rotation

Meaning
A capsular pattern always indicates a lesion of the joint, whatever its nature may be(= arthritis or capsulitis). It may be either an acute synovitis or a chronic organised reaction of the fibrous capsule.
