"The Shoulder" Demo

2* Passive elevation of the arm

Procedure:

  • One hand at the contralateral base of the neck
  • other hand proximal to the elbow

Normal range: 180-200°

Endfeel: ligamentous

Remark: The elevation of the arm is conducted simultaneously at the scapulohumeral joint and at the shouldergirdle. A dysfunction (pain and/or limitation) of the elevation may therefore be localized at several levels. The result of the test should therefore always be interpreted in relation to the rest of the functional examination.
