Partial rupture of the infraspinatus tendon

Clinical presentation

Usually in patients over 50 years old. Same symptoms as in an uncomplicated tendinitis.

Not every partial rupture is symptomatic.

In symptomatic cases, the lesion is usually superficially localised on the tenoperiosteal junction.

The Clinical Pattern is characterised by a full passive range of movement and the presence of a painful arc; there may be pain at the end of the passive external rotation; weakness and pain on resisted lateral rotation
