Partial Rupture of the Subscapularis

Presentation

An isolated partial rupture of the subscapulartis tendon is very rare.
There is some weakness of the resisted medial rotation, together with the usual clinical signs of a subsapularistendinitis.
Treatment is the same as for an uncomplicated tendinitis.

The lesion is always on the tenoperiosteal junction on the lesser tuberosity. The following options are possible:

A weakness of the medial rotation may also be the result of a larger rupture of the rotator cuff.
Here, the resisted abduction and/ or lateral rotation will be weak as well.
