Immobilizational arthritis


History and Spontaneous Evolution:

Patients over 60 years of age

After immobilisation (local -fracture of humerus- or general - haemiplegia or general illness)

Typical spontaneous evolution: First a gradual increase of pain and limitation of movement,
Then a stabilization with maximal pain and limitation
Decrease in pain after about six months is followed by spontaneous improvement of mobility.
The spontaneous evolution may take up to a year.
