The Elbow

1* Passive Flexion

Execution:

  1. The examiner stands next to the patient.
  2. One hand hand takes hold of the patient's forearm just
    proximally to his wrist.
  3. The other hand is at the dorsal aspect of the patient's
    shoulder to prevent the body from trying to move backwards.
  4. The examiner moves the joint into as much flexion as possible.

Normal range: about 160°

Endfeel: Tissue Approximation as the muscles of the
forearm come in contact with the brachial muscles.

Structures that stop the normal movement:

Muscles bellies of biceps, brachialis and brachioradialis.
