The Elbow
Bicepstendinitis
Palpation of the biceps tendon
Technique
-
The patient in a half-sitting position, with his forearm
resting on his thigh so that the muscle is well relaxed. The elbow is
slightly flexed and the lower arm halfway between supination and pronation.
-
The therapist stands at te painful side, fixes the
distal part of the lower arm and asks for a supination.
-
He can now easily see and feel the lateral border
of the tendon as a hard string that can be hooked with the fingertips.
-
Also the musculotendinous junction can easily be palpated.
When the elbow is brought in full supination, even the tenoperiosteal
insertion deeply on the radial tuberosity can be felt.
