The Elbow

Technique:

• The examiner keeps the arm slightly flexed and in an intermediate position between pronation en supination.
• The wrist is held in flexion, in order to prevent active contractions of the flexor digitorum superficialis.
• An active pronation is asked and resisted.

A positive test (pain in the forearm and paraesthesia in the area of sensible innervation of the median nerve) may indicate a compression of the nerve at the level of the passage under the pronator.
