Fracture of the olecranon

Fracture of the olecranon may be the result of a direct injury.
The clinical examination shows a capsular pattern in combination
with a painful and weak extension of the elbow.

Stress fractures of the olecranon have been reported in adolescents.
They usually result from recurrent hyperextension movements at the elbow
(adolescent throwing athletes and gymnasts).
