Intra-articular injections
Indications
- Traumatic arthritis (stage II and III)
- Immobilizational arthritis (stage II and III)
- Monoarticular, steroid sensitive arthritis (all stages)
- Local treatment of generalized (rheumatic) arthritis.
Contra-Indications
- Septic arthritis
- Infection in the neighbouring tissues (skin and bone)
- Bacterial endocarditis
- Bacteraemia
- Active tuberculosis
- Active herpes corneae
- Joint prosthesis
- Serious and uncontrolled clotting disorder
- Allergy to steroid or its vehicle.
