Shoulder pain is extremely rare in younger patients.
When present, a serious condition should always be suspected.
The age is especially relevant in arthritis (detection of a capsular pattern).
A traumatic arthritis is only present after the age of 45, immobilization arthtitis after the age of 60.
A monarticular steroid-sensitive arthritis. is extremely rare after the age of 75.
