The Shoulder
Acute Haemorrhagic Bursitis
Evacuation
The technique is the same as for an infiltration of the subacromial part of the bursa.
Technique:
- The patient sits with the arm hanging in a neutral position.
- The lateral edge of the acromion and the coraco-acromial ligament are identified.
- A thin needle, 5 cm long, and fitted to a 10 cc syringe is inserted about one cm under the acromial edge.
- The needle is then further moved, in a slightly cranial direction under the acromion.
- Aspiration is performed at different positions and depths and as much blood as possible is evacuated.
