The Shoulder

Chronic Subdeltoid bursitis

Local Treatment

Infiltration

Product:

  • A thin needle 5 cm long fitted to a syringe of 5cc.
  • Local infiltration with 10 cc procaine (0.5 %), eventually with 20 to 30 mg Triamcinolone added to it.

The injection with procaine often proves curative, and if the patient is better when seen a week later, the same injection should be repeated.

If only the diagnosis was confirmed but no lasting benefit resulted after a week, then the triamcinolone should be added to the solution.
