Chronic Subdeltoid Bursitis
Local Treatment/ Superficial part:
Material: A 4 cm needle is fitted to a 10 ml syringe and filled with a 0.5 % procain solution.
Technique:
- The patient sits with the arm in a neutral position.
- The borders of the tender area are carefully delineated.
- The needle is inserted in the middle of the area
until it hits bone.
- It is then moved between humerus and deltoid.
- On withdrawing, one cc of the solution is injected.
- The needle is then thrust in in a slightly different direction and the procedure repeated.
- This manoeuvre is repeated about ten times until all the procaine is divided in a fanwise manner over the whole affected area.
