The Shoulder

Technique:

• The patient sits with the arm in a neutral position.
• The lateral edge of the acromion and the coraco-acromial ligament are palpated.
• The needle is inserted about one cm underneath the middle of the acromial edge.
• It is then thrust in under the acromion in a slightly cranial direction.
• It should be passed in almost to its full length without meeting hardly any resistance.
• The infiltration is given while withdrawing and reinserting it about five to ten times in order to the whole of the affected area.
