Chronic Adhesive Bursitis

Adhesion in the bursal wall may form after a longstanding inflammation or a local bleeding.

The clinical pattern is characterised by a slight but painful limitation of (in most cases only one) passive movement.
As a rule the medial rotation is limited, more exceptionally the elevation or lateral rotation.

There is no painful arc

Some resisted movements (most often the resisted abduction and/ or lateral rotation) may be painful as well.

There is local tenderness in case the lesion is superficially localised.

Local Treatment: Same procedure and technique as in an uncomplicated subdeltoid bursitis.
