The Shoulder

Clinical Examination

First of all, a preliminary examination will reveal whether the origin of the pain is at the shoulder itself or at another structure of the upper quadrant (between C1 and D2).

Secondly, the basic functional examination defines in which particular structure the lesion is situated.

Finally, an accessory examination may be worked out. It is required particularly in the following situations:

  • To refine the diagnosis.
  • To localize the lesion more precisely.
  • When an instability is suspected.
